ABSTRACT
TUMANhas interpreted peaks in the power spectra of records made by a cryogenic gravity meter during periods of low earthquake activity as free oscillations of the Earth. He hypothesized that the amplitudes of the even-numbered harmonics in these spectra were significantly greater than the amplitudes of the odd-numbered harmonics, and suggested that this effect might be due to the excitation of the Earth's vibrational modes by gravitational radiation. I have grave doubts about all these suppositions.
